Switzerland is way more than chocolate, bank scandals and cuckoo clocks. Cuckoo clocks are not even invented by the Swiss, for crying out loud. I don't know if Orson Welles or a nifty marketer is to blame for that.
Over the years, I've written so many itineraries for friends travelling to Switzerland that I thought I might as well build a website and tell the world my little secrets.
Switzerland is maybe small but we are blessed with diversity. We've got a little of everything…
I will lead you to winter hot spots and summer playgrounds. But mostly I will lead you astray to places where we, the Swiss, look for adventure and relaxation. There are still some uncrowded and unspoiled pockets that don't always make it onto the big travel sites or into guidebooks.
Our culture is rich and diverse. Languages and habits can be different from canton to canton, even from village to village. Some of our traditions and customs are still as mysterious as an Egyptian Sphinx.
Oh, and don't forget the food. It's maybe a bit on the pricey side but I will let you in on the secret on how to dine on a (pocket full of) dime. I mean, we Swiss don't eat out every day. We've got to take care of our spendings as much as any budget conscious traveller.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to show you around. I don't promise unbiased advice - but do hope I can inspire you to discover the real and authentic Switzerland.
Swiss-Switzerland.com is still in its infancy. It's a one-woman's show. It could take a while to give you enough information to plan a full-fledged Swiss vacation. In the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions. I'll do my very best to answer them and help you make the most of your time in Switzerland.
I wish you all wonderful vacations in Switzerland!
Fida
